History

I have lived at the intersection of Old Sandwich and Ship Pond Roads for over Thirty years.  We love the location, and we're happy to call it home.  Thirty years ago we had no neighbors, you rarely passed another car,  pizza delivery was not an option and they wanted $30,000 to put in cable.   Now we have many neighbors,  both Cable and Fios run past our driveway and I can get Pizza or Chinese  delivered just like everyone else.  The only thing that hasn't changed is the road.   It's still a dusty gravel road full of potholes.  However now it supports much more traffic and the DPW's best efforts at keeping it graded are just not enough.  People who drive clean cars on nice smooth pavement just don't get it.  They mark remarks like "Well you knew it was a dirt road when you moved there".  Yes, Yes we did,  but do they really think we live in a static world where nothing changes?  Why do busy intersections require traffic signals when they never did before?   At some point common sense requires that we adjust our infrastructure so that we can all co-exist safely in our ever changing world.

In June of 2014, after a rider was injured at our farm and we waited a painful 15 minutes for the ambulance to arrive I decided it was time to take action.  I sent a letter to all the residents of both Old Sandwich and Ship Pond Roads asking or their support in upgrading these roads.  I created this blog to document the process.
